MEET THE STAFF
They say a business is as good as its employees. We so agree with that statement. We have chosen our associates based on their love of and compassion for dogs, their commitment to doing the very best in every situation for the dogs' care and happiness, and their understanding of the importance of working as a team -- towards the higher good of our clients.

" I'd like to share...during my career at Paws, I've truely learned that hte key to kindness with dogs is to see them through the eyes of the people who love them. I appreciate how incredibly well trained our big doggie family is due to every day commitment to consistency and living the actions that we teach others. I am always sooooo impressed when new folks look in at the dogs without them barking! So cool!!" "As for downtime, I love to take my dogs into wild places where we enjoy nature and each other...I love to cook and eat with friends...2 legged and 4 legged."

A southern California transplant, I’ve lived in Nm since 1994. While I’ve had dogs and other animals my whole life, it’s only been the last 5 years that I’ve been using positive reinforcement training methods when working with them. I LOVE IT!!! Using positive reinforcement, animals learn to love the training ‘game,’ making it loads of fun for everyone! I live about 38 miles from Santa Fe (with views of Rowe Mesa and GREAT night skies!), sharing 5 acres with my hubby of 36 years, 3 terriers, a Chihuahua mix and a flock of chickens! While I love to quilt and bead, my time is spent with the dogs, both at Paws Plaza and at home…good thing I love doing that as well!!

I've had dogs all my life, but I've come to 'adore them.' I met Pam and Robin years ago when I met a group of 22 dogs in a dire situation in a terrible rescue in Las Vegas, NM. Determined to get the undersocialized, neglected dogs out of their misery and into homes, I sought a dog trainer with a huge heart to help with training...knowing that socialization and training was the way to a better life. I found TWO trainers with huge hearts and awesome training skills who knew first-hand the challenge and importance of rescue work. Recent experiences have opened my heart and mind -- rescue and working at Paws Plaza. I always trained my dogs (and horses) in a kind manner, but will forever be a devotee of "positive reinforcement training" -- the modern, friendly training -- which I have learned from Robin and Pam and much reading. It is the ONLY ethical and effective way to approach animal learning and to interact with our animal companions. Every day at Paws is different...and I so value the experiences with the amazing dogs here and with our dog-adorers (some call them employees) at Paws! "

Born and raised in northern Colorado, I have loved dogs since I can remember. I showed and trained dogs from 10-18. Started working in the vet industry at 16 and loved that, but decided it wasn’t for me. Worked as a trainer for 2 years at Petsmart. Dabbled in human services for 2 years but decided animals were too important to me to stay, so I have returned to dogs! Animal Behavior, specifically canine, is my passion. I am preparing to get a master’s degree in cognitive behavioral psychology to further my knowledge of behavior modification. I moved to Santa Fe in August with my husband Brian, and with our German Shorthair Pointers Zip and Raz and 2 cats, Ushy and Glaza. (Yes, there is a story behind the names!)

I am 25 years old and have lived in Santa Fe since I was 3. I like long walks on the beach, flowers and candle-lit dinners. I started working at Paws in February 2011. I have loved dogs since I was a kid and working at Paws Plaza has only made that love grow.

I am 22 years old. I have been involved with animals from birth. My family has always had at least one pet in the family. I have rescued most all of the family animals. I have learned so much from Paws Plaza, but I think the most helpful experience has been managing a large multitude of wonderful, loving dogs!

Being here at Paws Plaza, I’ve learned so much about dogs, I only wish I had known these things when I owned dogs. It’s been a great experience working here. I currently do not have a dog at home. But, thanks to Paws and the Paws family, I have anywhere from ten to forty dogs a day and that for those few hours I can treat like they’re mine. Thanks, Santa Fe!
